Mrs. Angela Wilder

Congratulations to Mrs. Angela Wilder, 5th Grade Teacher, on being named Holly Springs' 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year!

After her family moved to Douglas County in 1969, Angela Wilder attended all Douglas County schools and graduated from Douglas County High in 1982. During high school, she was inspired by her history teacher, Stuart Bennett, to study social science and become a teacher. Angela went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a BSEd in Social Sciences (7-12). In 1988, she began teaching at Alexander High School before marrying her husband of 29 years.

As the wife of a military officer, Angela traveled across the United States and abroad to Germany over the course of 20 years while raising five children. During this time, she taught sixth grade at Hinesville Elementary, worked as a preschool assistant director, served on army family support teams, and homeschooled her children. In 2005, she gained her Elementary Education degree and, in 2007, she began teaching first grade at Holly Springs Elementary. By 2012, Angela earned her Masters in Reading with an ESOL endorsement from the University of West Georgia. In the summer of 2014, she gained a gifted endorsement as well.

After teaching first grade for 10 years at Holly Springs Elementary, Angela will be teaching fifth grade social studies in the fall. She is proud to work at a school full of amazing administrators, teachers, students, and support staff. Angela credits her faith, her parents, and all of her former teachers for her love of learning, citing that she is thankful for their inspiration and support. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” Proverbs 9:10.
